For the new year, I’ve made up my mind to finally draw and illustrate more. For my first book “Adorable Schmückend” I already swung the brush last year, but I noticed how rusty my skills are. That must change urgently!
I used to paint a hell of a lot – I even applied to a college in Dublin where they trained as animators. My dream was to draw for Disney sometime. HOLLYWOOD! But everything turned out differently and the computer is now the main work of cartoons. Too bad, I think you can see it. Or?
So, back to the topic: I practice! Today I drew a little decoration for my work space. On old plates from the flea market. I tend to perfectionism and when I paint, draw or illustrate on paper I start to etch, crumple and pee in the corner. I am hesitant and unconstitutional, so I thought, I draw directly on the plate, so that you can not change anything! And lo and behold, it worked out, I outsmarted myself and my single-dripping paint I really like! And you?
I can not really write a manual, because the most important thing is your own painting style. I have used simple permanent markers , you can of course also work with porcelain paints, then the plates are even rinsed by hand after burning in the oven. But, I just wanted to hang her on the wall anyway 😉
At the end, put a glue-hanger on it and put it on the wall – DONE!
And, when was the last time you drew, painted or illustrated? Were you satisfied or rather frustrated, according to the motto, that looks like in elementary school … (although personally I find that quite charming too)
