Fancy change? So you plan the transformation of a room

Fancy change? So you plan the transformation of a room

I’m more of an impulsive person, which is why the remodeling of rooms with me always looked like that, I let mix at night in the hardware store at half past seven in the morning, then tidied up rather provisionally and got started. This has brought me an orange wiping technique in my first apartment, reminiscent of a Tuscan sauna landscape and a 90s blue in the hallway below (in 2014), which had to be repainted a few days later. And when I was satisfied with the color, I realized that my decoration did not fit at all anymore! With the wisdom of age (hö, hö) I have now planned the refurbishment of the bedroom and show you today how I proceeded. Often one has the desire to change a room, but does not really know how to tackle it.

On a mood board, you can collect all the things that come to mind about the new space: photos from magazines, fabric samples, deco, colors, patterns and materials. You can also create a Pinterest board with inspiration, but I can imagine it easier when I compile my own decoration, and so on. When you look at the moodboard you can see what fits together well and can already sense the mood in the room. For my bedroom, I want a cozy boho look with soft colors and a few plants. I ordered the golden eye a wall decoration a while ago (by the way, from Pimkie Home, there is great decoration in boho look!), But at the moment I do not like it in the bedroom to the gray wall paint. The semi-precious stones should stand for a certain “spirit”, which makes the bedroom an absolute feel-good place. I am not a spiritual person, but I really like small shrines with stones and incense sticks (like these little sacrificial houses in Thailand).

The little gray piece of fabric is the fabric of our bed, which will remain natural and must be included in the planning. I will try to spice up the shade of gray with bed linen in the rosé rust tone and to decorate natural materials like a macrame flower basket or a cozy blanket.

When planning you should make a site visit of the room and record what you like and what does not. It does not matter if you can really change things like a heater, which is placed unfavorably or your wardrobe, which can not just be replaced. Write down everything anyway, because maybe a creative solution to the problem will come later.

In the picture you can see the bedroom last year (you can find more pictures here ). I do not like the wall color at all anymore or ask myself in retrospect, how I came up with it – I’m not a gray type at all! I found the rice paper lamps pretty great, but after five years, the 1.99 euro lampshades have done their job, I think. The Ikea chest of drawers is unfortunately no longer usable, as the bottoms of the drawers have come loose. Also, thanks to our cleanup a few weeks ago, I’ve created storage elsewhere so I can make the corner more airy.

Before you break the whole room full of energy and the Ikea shopping list is infinitely long, first think about what can stay what you still have at home (a walk in the basement is always worthwhile), what you want and what you all can do it yourself! Maybe you can paint a chest of drawers or make wall decoration yourself? I definitely have some DIY ideas for my bedroom, which I will of course share with you 🙂.

Now I have the feeling that I am well prepared for the restyling of the bedroom and I can not wait to get started! Do you have a room in your home that you would like to remodel?

A great weekend for you!

Catherine
